ASTON MARTIN

The company and brand name Aston Martin is derived from the first half of the village name "Aston Clinton" in Buckinghamshire, southeast England, and the second half of one of the ASTON MARTIN founders "Lionel Martin".

BENTLEY

The company and brand name BENTLEY is derived from the name of its founder Walter Owen Bentley.

JAGUAR

The company and brand name Jaguar was originally proposed by the advertising agency, and was initially adopted as the name of the new model car by the founder William Lyons. The reason why the name was chosen was that the speed and style of the animal Jaguar matched the new model.
The predecessor of JAGUAR, "Swallow Sidecar Company" manufactured sidecars for motorcycles. Automobile production began in 1927, the company name was changed to "SS Cars" in 1934, and the new model released in 1935 was named as "Jaguar". In 1945 the company name was changed to "Jaguar Cars" from "SS Cars". Because the name "SS" same as the Nazi Guards that is negative image in the targeted regions United States and Europe.

LAND ROVER

The company and brand name LAND ROVER is derived from the off-road vehicle name "Land Rover Series I" released by Rover company in 1948. The combination of Land and Rover expresses high running through performance.
Tata Motors bought the Jaguar Cars Limited and Land Rover Limited operations in 2008. In 2013, they were integrated into Jaguar Land Rover.

LOTUS

The company and brand name LOTUS is derived from the name of the racing car made by its founder Anthony Colin Bruce Chapman in 1949. There are two different theories as to why LOTUS was chosen as the racing car name. The most popular theory is that Chapman and his friends fell asleep during making racing cars all night. When discussing the matter they agreed that the car had the mythical power of the LOTUS blossom like Buddhism and Hinduism to put people to sleep. The other theory is that the racing name was suggested by Hazel, Chapman's wife and business partner.

McLaren

The company and brand name McLaren is derived from the name of its founder Bruce Leslie McLaren.

MG

The company and brand name MG is derived from the initials of "Morris Garage", which is the name of Morris Motors dealer. The history of MG originates from Morris Motors, which was founded by William Morris in 1910.

MINI

The brand name MINI is derived from the English word "miniature". MINI was originally used as the name of Morris Mini-Minor, launched by British Motor Corporation (BMC) in 1959. It's a play on words "minor" and "mini". After acquisition by Rover and BMW and mass production life of more than 40 years, MINI established the position of the brand name. MINI is now a German car company and brand.

MORGAN

The company and brand name MORGAN is derived from the name of its founder Henry Frederick Stanley Morgan (H. F. S. Morgan).

Rolls-Royce

The company and brand name Rolls-Royce is derived from the names of its founders, Frederick Henry Royce and Charles Stewart Rolls.

ROVER

The company and brand name ROVER is derived from the name of "Rover Safety Bicycle" released in 1885 by Starley & Sutton Co, the predecessor of ROVER.

VAUXHALL

The company and brand name VAUXHALL is derived from the place name in Lambeth, London. VAUXHALL was founded in Lambeth in 1857. The place name Vauxhall is derived from the name of Falkes de Breauté, the head of King John's mercenaries in the late 13th century. There is a large house owned by Falkes de Breauté in this area, which was referred to as Faulke's Hall, later Foxhall, and eventually Vauxhall.
