The first generation of MARK II was named as "CORONA MARK II". As a background, the development concept was to change the small sedan "Corona" more sporty and upscale. Positioning in the car lineup was also like "second generation Corona" or "advanced Corona vehicle". From the second generation of "CORONA MARK II", "Corona" is deleted from the car name to become "Mark II".
BLIT is derived from the German word "blitz", which means "lightning".
