The Ferrari emblem logo consists of four colors. Yellow is derived from the color of Modena, the birthplace of Ferrari. The top three colors are derived from the Italian flag green, white and red.
The shape of the emblem logo is generally known to be rectangular type or shield type. Originally, the rectangle type was used for the corporate logo and mass production vehicles, and the shield type was used for motor sports. Currently, it is often used differently from its original purpose. The SF letters engraved on the bottom of the shield type are derived from the initials of Scuderia Ferrari, known as the racing team. In addition, Scuderia means "stable" in Italian.
The "Prancing Horse" is called "Cavallino Rampante" in Italian and is based on the coat of arms painted on his plane by Francesco Baracca, the Air Force ace of World War I. However, there are two theories about the origin of the coat of arms.

The 1st theory: The fighter's prancing horse was a kill symbol painted on his fighter to represent Baracca having shot down a German fighter with a prancing horse, which is the coat of arms of the city of Stuttgart, Germany. Around World War I, the Italian Air Force had the custom of sticking the symbol of an enemy plane shot down on its own fighter as a loot.

The 2nd theory: The fighter's prancing horse is based on the coat of arms of the Italian army cavalry regiment, to which Baraka previously belonged.

In June 1923, the founder Enzo Ferrari won a race at the Savio circuit where he met Countess Paolina, mother of Baracca. The countess asked Enzo to use this horse on his cars, suggesting that it would bring him good luck. The original "prancing horse" on his fighter was painted in red on a white cloud-like shape, but Enzo chose to have the horse in black as a sign of the grief of Baracca's death in action.

Enzo managed the Alfa Romeo dealer "Carrozzeria Emilia - Enzo Ferrari". After that, the Alfa Romeo race team "Societa Anonima Scuderia Ferrari" was established by Enzo in 1929. This team became the predecessor of Ferrari. Therefore, the first shield emblem logo, which was born in 1932, was attached to the Alfa Romeo race car. After overcoming World War II, Ferrari was founded in 1947.
